Fad Dieting

While sick and working from home for the past two days I had Ms. Rachel Ray on in the background. She had this young man on today and his name is Ian K. Smith M.D. I am not disputing the general aim he is trying to get people to eat better and healthier. Stamping on your book "Be Thinner by Friday" does not pull me in. He went over on Rachel Ray's show exactly what the 4 day diet can consist of. I was furious because it is all the foods we should be eating. Because of marketing and the big Big BIg BIG industry of fad dieting it is amped up even more.

This is just a small list of the acceptable items on his list. Granted there are specific days listed in the book of when and how much to eat of certain items to complete the 4 day detox diet, but you catch my drift.

2 cups coffee (limit sugar to one packet; limit cream or milk to one teaspoon per cup)
2 cups green, leafy vegetables, raw or cooked
1 cup freshly squeezed lemonade with no more than 1 tablespoon sugar
4 servings fruit
6 ounces plain, fat-free yogurt
2 cups green salad with 3 tablespoons fat-free dressing
1 cup cooked beans (chickpeas, lentils, etc.)
1 1/2 cups cooked brown rice
Unlimited plain water
3 servings fruit
4 cups raw vegetables
1 cup beans
4 ounces fish or poultry
2 eggs or egg whites
1 strip turkey bacon
2 servings fruit
1 cup raw and 2 servings cooked veggies
1 sandwich with lean meat and 1 tablespoon low-fat mayo
1 cup beans
1 cup brown rice

I am just one person, but to me changing your eating habits for 4 days to get results is not the best course of action. Its about making life long changes so when you do loose weight it doesnt come back in 4 months when you go back to eating the way you did before. We have all been there, but trying to jump start it in 4 days?

Check out this video and let me know what you think??? Its not from the Rachel Ray Show, but better yet the 700 Club, {ha}

More recipes to come dont worry !!!
